Invitational and Special Age Group Classifications: 2023 Season

The invitational wave is NOT a pro/elite wave. This means that even though we have a separate wave for the invitational, if an age grouper beats an invitational athlete’s time, they have beat them and will be awarded an overall placement in the top 3.  Age groupers that are brought up into the top 3 overall standing of the race are no longer eligible for age group or masters awards. Invitational athletes are also not eligible to go down into age group.

Timing
The timing chips are disposable for individual races but not for the relays. If you are part of a relay please remember to remove the timing chip at the finish line and recycle the chip and save the strap for the next event.

CYPRESS YOUTH TRIATHLON SWIM START PROCEDURE

All youth competitors will start the race by standing next to their assigned spot in transition area. We will then call each transition row in order to lineup according to their number (lowest to highest) and proceed to walk the line to the pool area.

Once in the pool area the short course kids will go first followed by a short break after which the long course kids will begin. The swim is to be completed by swimming one way in the lane, going under the lane rope and swimming back in the lane next to the athlete (progressing left).

Once the children exit the pool they will run to their bikes in the transition area and start their bike. The kids will bike along Park Road and a portion of N. Bridgeland Parkway (short course U-turns at 1 mile; long course U-turns at 2 miles) before transitioning to the run leg that takes the kids along the shores of Lake Bridgeland.

Shirts & Swag

We will be sure everyone who registers before the shirt cutoff date receives the shirt in the size and fit you entered during registration. If you want to swap, you can ask at the packet pickup/volunteer tents after the race to see if any extras are lying around. Shirt Cutoff date Thursday July 6, 2023.

We will not guarantee anyone gets a shirt at all, or in the correct size if you registered closer to the race date. We will order extras in hopes of guessing correctly so that everyone gets one. But for those who register closer to the race date, consider it a bonus if you get one at all, and you should feel especially lucky if you get the correct size for you. This is not to penalize you for signing up late, we are equally thankful for you too. But we literally have to place the order quite a bit in advance of each race date.

Also, be kind to whoever is working packet pickup as they are most likely volunteering.

Rules & Policies

All athletes must adhere to Bayou City Tri Series and USA Triathlon rules and regulations at all events. Each athlete is responsible for staying up-to-date with these rules. If you have questions before the event please ask via email. As the race is sanctioned by USAT, if you have a race day question you must ask one of the Certified USAT Officials.
