Multi-sport events at the beautiful Lago Mar Lagoon in Texas City are fast becoming the most popular in the area. The 12-acre crystal clear lagoon offers an experience like none other in the area, and we are happy to provide a choice of events that are sure to satisfy everyone’s athletic needs. Scheduled events this year include a Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon, a Youth race, and a 5K road race. LAGO MAR TRIATHLON - WHAT TO EXPECT

This one-of-a-kind race brings athletes to the largest Crystal Lagoon around, found at the Lago Mar neighborhood in Texas City, TX. A true oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city, and the perfect place to race and get those competitive juices flowing after a crazy year.

The 12-acre Crystal Clear Lagoon is unlike anything ever created in this part of the world! It’s truly exceptional and is absolutely the best body of water you will ever race in around these parts!

SPRINT TRIATHLON COURSE: 500m swim, 12 mile Bike, 5k Run

Begin with a 500 meter swim, transition to the bike and make two loops around the beautiful Lago Mar community. Slip into your running shoes, and then hit the ground running for a 5k course around the neighborhood of Lago Mar. After you complete the flat, fast oval shape loop, your finish line will be right back at the edge of the Lagoon, so you can immediately cool off and start your floating post race party!

DUATHLON COURSE: 1.2 mile run, 12 mile Bike, 5k Run

The duathlon mimics the triathlon course; the exception being that the swim is replaced with a short, 1.2 mile out-and-back run on the sidewalk bordering the neighborhood lake.

AID STATIONS and POST RACE FOOD & DRINKS:

Hydration stations will be set up along the course at frequent locations.
Running with a hand held bottle or belt is appreciated to keep the area tidy.

POST RACE:

After the race, find your friends and/or family; and enjoy the Lagoon and LagoonFest Texas the rest of the day. Your Race Entry doubles as a LagoonFest Texas pass. Lago Mar Lagoon is unlike anywhere else, and you will not want to rush off after the finish line!

SPECTATORS:

Spectators will need to buy a pass to get into the Lagoon, regardless of the special event. Buy your pass through the link from this site and you will receive a big discount! Great news, our friends at Lago Mar and LagoonFest Texas are offering all spectators 10% off all activities and food once in LagoonFest Texas. During checkout, you will register each guest in your group to an wristband by providing their name. Wristbands will be provided at the main entrance gate upon arrival/check-in. All onsite purchases including food, beverage, and retail will be administered through your wristband. Credit cards and cash will not be accepted onsite. Ticket for activities such as: kayaks, SUP, sailboats, jet boards, food, drinks, etc. can be purchased online, also at a special price. We strongly suggest all spectators buy their passes and activity tickets immediately once they are open for purchase. Nobody is allowed into the Lagoon without a pass.

OVERVIEW:

This one-of-a-kind race brings youth triathletes to the largest Crystal Lagoon around, found at the Lago Mar neighborhood in Texas City, TX. A true oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city, and the perfect place to race and enjoy amazing family fun!

The 12-acre Crystal Clear Lagoon is unlike anything ever created in this part of the world! The Lago Mar Lagoon is truly exceptional and is absolutely the best body of water you will ever race in: Crystal Lagoons are cleaned with advanced technology and truly crystal clear! This is the safest and most fun course we have ever put together.


DISTANCES:

Youth Triathlon Short Course ( Ages 6-10) 75 yard swim, 2 mile bike, 3/4 mile run

Youth Triathlon Long Course (Ages 11-15) 150 yard swim, 4 mile bike, 1.5 mile run

Keep in mind these are USAT Ages - the age of the participant they are on December 31st. If a child is 10 years old on race day, but turns 11 before the end of the year; the USAT Triathlon age is 11.

COURSE:

This swim is perfect for a youth course, as we will have lifeguards all over the water, and the swim course is in crystal clear water. There are no lanes and swimmers may not be able to touch the bottom the entire way. Not to worry, it is a short swim to the side of the lagoon or to frequent safety kayaks if needed.

The bike and run course will all be in the safety of the beautiful Lago Mar neighborhood.

AID STATIONS & POST RACE FOOD & DRINKS:

We will have hydration stations at the transition area and finish line.
We suggest athletes running with a hand held bottle or belt if fluids will be needed on course.

POST RACE:

After the race, find your friends and/or family for some all day waterpark fun; and enjoy the Lagoon and LagoonFest Texas at no extra charge, all morning into the afternoon! Your Race Entry Pass will double as a LagoonFest Texas pass! Which is a sweet deal! This place is unlike anywhere else, and families will not want to rush off after the finish line!

SPECTATORS:

All spectators must buy a day pass for the Lagoon to watch the races from inside the Lagoon. Great news though, our friends at Lago Mar and LagoonFest Texas are offering all spectators a very discounted Day Pass, along with a wristband that will get you 10% off all activities and food once in LagoonFest Texas. During checkout, you will register each guest in your group to a wristband by providing their name when purchasing. Wristbands are provided at the main entrance gate upon arrival/check-in. USAT Paratriathlon Development Series Participating Race

The USA Paratriathlon Development Race Series is the premiere national-level racing circuit for new and emerging paratriathletes in the United States. The aim of the series is to provide increased domestic competitive opportunities for the nation’s emerging and developing paratriathletes.

We are proud to host one of four races en route to the Paratriathlon National Championships in Long Beach, CA., on July 16th, 2023.

Distances will be: 750 meter swim, 20K Bike, 5K Run

The 5k Run is for all ages!

The course will start and end at the sandy beach side of the Lagoon. This is the coolest finish line you’ve ever seen!

Running with a handheld bottle or belt is encouraged to keep the areas tidy.

POST RACE:

After the race, find your friends and family; and celebrate with Lago Mar’s one of a kind Crystal Lagoon and LagoonFest Texas! Your race entry gets you in all day to enjoy the fun amenities available.
